Financial Subsidies
Some adult day health care providers offer financial help for those with low incomes or other financial hardships; some programs offer need-based scholarships — and others offer cost breaks on a sliding scale based on income. Contact the individual providers you are considering for specifics on their programs.
Veterans Benefits
The Veterans Administration (VA) pays for some of the costs of adult day health care for some veterans who meet special criteria, but they are required to cover a copay amount -- recently set at $15 per day of care -- on their own. To find a facility near you, contact the local Veterans Health Administration Office.
TRICARE
TRICARE is a health care program serving active duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, retirees, their families, survivors and some former spouses. County Indigent Care Programs
Some county programs might have funding to pay for some types care for individuals, generally, those ages 21 through 64, who have limited incomes and other funds. The programs and services offered vary widely from county to county, as do the eligibility requirements, but most require that individuals have no health insurance coverage available.
In addition to these limitations, most county programs offer benefits for only a short period — generally three to six months, although some last up to a year.
