Adult Day Health Care

Adult day health care or Alzheimer Day Care Resource Centers that attend individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia, both of which are defined as “medical model” care, provide some health services for mostly mobile patients. This differentiates them from “social models” of day care, such as adult day care facilities or community or senior centers. The distinction is important because it affects how providers are funded, what kind of care they can provide, and what sources might be available to help pay for it.

When choosing adult day health care, it is wise to get the answers to a number of questions -- from the adult who needs care, the caregivers who ordinarily provide it, and the people who operate the adult day health care service.
